What to Do When You Feel Invisible or Unseen

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do when you feel invisible.

This past month knocked me sideways. It was a mix of medical challenges, fatigue, and silence. While I tried to push forward, I didn’t have the energy to show up the way I usually do. I wasn’t posting, creating, or staying as visible online. And as a result, I started to feel invisible.

But I know I’m not the only one. If you’re feeling unseen, you’re not alone. It’s something many of us experience—especially when we’re building, healing, or just trying to keep it all together.

When You’re Showing Up and Still Feel Unseen

I’m someone who’s been in the public eye in different ways—as a photographer, educator, and former run influencer. So when I slow down, I notice the silence more than most.

What surprised me, though, was how quickly that silence made me question everything. Was I doing enough? Was I being forgotten?

Even though I know better, it still felt real. Because when you’re used to being seen—and suddenly you’re not—it’s easy to feel like you’ve disappeared.

The Reframe That Changed Everything

Eventually, I had to pause and ask myself: Am I truly invisible, or am I just in a different kind of season?

That’s when something shifted.

Sometimes, we’re not invisible. We are healing. We’re not behind, but rebuilding. We’re not being quiet to hide—we’re being quiet because we’re human.

And presence doesn’t always have to be loud to be meaningful.

Your worth isn’t measured by how often you post, how loud your voice is, or how many likes you get. Likewise, your value exists regardless of the feedback.

Your Presence Still Matters

Even when your energy is low, or when no one is saying “I see you.” Even when the response is silence—your presence still matters.

Sometimes, the light you’re putting out is softer. Quieter. But it still reaches people.

The people who need your voice, your story, your work—they still feel it, even when it’s not front and center.

If You’re in That Space Right Now

If you’re reading this and feeling like no one sees you, I want you to know that I do.

I know what it’s like to be in that quiet place. I know what it’s like to question if you matter.

But you do. And when you’re ready to come out of that quiet space—even just a little—I’ll be here to cheer you on.
