4 Generation Picture Ideas

When this family reached out to me, the 4 generation picture ideas started flooding in. As an Austin family photographer, I knew the importance of these images on a very personal level.

Storytelling

Storytelling, have you ever heard how impactful it can be? By sharing two simple sentences of my personal story, I was able to connect with this amazing family.

I remember the day I learned of my dad’s cancer diagnosis. It’s still so vivid in my mind. I was in Maui, relaxing after running the Kauai marathon. All I remember thinking was that I wanted to get home fast. His diagnosis was still new to me and hard for me to process, let alone share on social media. I didn’t share much of his story until recently when he was finally in remission. In January of 2018, I took to my blog to share a few short and simple sentences about some of the bad and good 2017 brought because it has always felt like a safe place.

In my end of the year recap for 2017, I shared the loss of my 93-year-old grandma, her 97-year-old brother, then my dad’s cancer diagnosis. But, let’s not forget the GOOD that happened too, I was published in the New York Times!

4 Generation Picture Ideas

Sharing my story resonated with this family. I’ll always remember the day they reached out to me. Their dad was also going through cancer treatment and didn’t have much time left. They envisioned an extended family session with the entire family to document their love. 4 generations were present that morning at Landa Park in New Braunfels. It was a beautiful summer day and the lighting was perfect as it reflected on the water and trees behind us. This family and session was so much fun. We laughed and laughed, and it was so easy to see the love they all have for each other. That is the best 4 generation picture ideas possible, genuine laughs.

Going into the session, they knew they wanted several albums to keep and hold onto, to pass down to generations that were there and beyond. Quality matters when it comes to keeping memories like this alive. Thank you to the family for trusting me to capture these precious moments for you.
