Importance of Austin Family Photographers

The importance of Austin family photographers:

Getting a little personal today, so if you do make it to the end, you’ll better understand the importance of Austin family photographers.

“You have NO idea how much the photos you took mean to me…the only photos I have of me and Matt and dad together.”

I received the above note last night as I put my book down to go to bed, and I cried. My sweet friend lost her husband earlier this year. Now she has to fly home to Texas in time to say bye to her dad. It hit close to home.

Loosing my grandmother:

When I lost my grandmother in 1995, I was given her engagement ring, all her jewelry, and the fondest of memories possible. To be laid to rest with our family portrait was her request.

Five or so years ago I got another heartbreaking note from a client. “My Uncle was so excited when he saw the portraits you did for our family. He passed away before we were able to mail him his print. So, he will be laid to rest with our family portrait.”

Personally, I was lucky enough to walk down the aisle with my dad at my brothers wedding (and yes, I was the photographer too…thank goodness for my amazing second shooter/helper that day). The joke was that this would probably never happen again. My dad said he’d be just fine with that as long as I was happy. I LOVE and cherish that portrait of us.

The importance of Austin family photographers:

This is why we do this, and why it matters so much. You’ll never know until those photos are all you have left to hold and those stories and memories come rushing back. Prints matter. They are the everyday reminders of those memories frozen in time.
